The Premier of Alberta promises more support for African and Caribbean communities in the province.
The Premier of Alberta, H.E Danielle Smith promises more support for African and Caribbean communities in the province. This was disclosed at a town hall meeting held at Queen Elizabeth 11 Building, downtown Edmonton on November 5, 2024. She spoke on issues related to healthcare, immigration, education, culture, heritage, employment, environment, creativity, infrastructure, financing, etc.
In a direct request by the President of Africa Caribbean Heritage Alliance, ACHA Foundation, Okama Ekpe Brook, the premier said that the establishment of an African & Caribbean Studies Program at institutions of higher education will pave the way for African history teachings and recognition of the tremendous contributions of people of African heritage in the province. This will gradually help the discourse on development, recognition and justice for the Black community in general. The Minister for Immigration and Multiculturalism also spoke on supporting ACHA’s education and creative sector initiatives.
