ACHA partners with City of Lacombe, Canada for Lacombe Days 2022

Lacombe Days is a community engagement initiative that brings out the residents and supporters from neighbouring districts to celebrate the summer season through various economic development activities. In previous years before the Covid pandemic caused a closure of the activities, the last Lacombe Days atrracted over 8,000 visitors over the weekend long events.

This year, it is anticipated that larger groups of visitors to Lacombe will help to boost the economy of the local businesses and create opportunities for volunteer engagement and new partnerships. People are tired of being locked down and this is such a beautiful sunny season that residents just want to get out and enjoy humanity. It is in this context that ACHA is so excited to join the organizing committee with some very spectacular events put together by local volunteers, friends, families and with partners from the Caribbean Studies Association.

On Friday July 15 and Saturday July 16th, come on out, immerse yourself in African Caribbean culture and heritage with arts and crafts markets, mouth watering dinner, fashion show, live music, dancing, book launch and poetry on Friday at the Lacombe Memorial Center from 6PM. Watch the colorful nature and vibrant colors of our dressing and music as we march down the streets of Lacombe in the Saturday morning carnival parade and relax with a chilled drink and small chops at the Saturday evening main stage show before the fireworks by Cranna Lake to round up an amazing weekend.

For those visiting Lacombe for the first time, a guided tour will be arranged from 9AM on Sunday morning to the museum, agriculture research station, AFSC, Cranna Lake, and don’t forget the sumptuous pancake breakast on Sunday morning! On behalf of our committee of volunteers, we appreciate the opportunity extended by the City of Lacombe, Lacombe Days Committee, Councillor Gulekson and Mayor Creasey that enabled us to give back to this historic and beautiful city.   For dinner tickets, please click this link to register or email for more details: info@afrocaribbeanalliance.org and our website https://afrocaribbeanalliance.org
